Australia’s Minister for Home Affairs has confirmed that the “safe haven” policy for Hong Kong residents will be extended to cover Hong Kong BN(O) passport holders, according to the Australian Special Broadcasting Service.
The move signifies that the graduate visa and temporary work visa for Hong Kong BN(O) passport holders will be able to extend to 5 years.
A spokesperson from the Home Affairs department said all those having a skilled migration visa and graduate visa on July 9 last year will have their visa extended for another five years automatically until July 8, 2025.
They can also apply for permanent residency after the expiry of their five-year visa, according to the spokesman.
